Scholarship Highlight - Kelsey Bradshaw

Being granted this scholarship impacts my future in more ways than just one. I have used a portion of the funds to cover the cost of books and school supplies for the upcoming semester, guaranteeing I have the proper materials to succeed in my studies; the remainder will be distributed toward housing and tuition.

Coming from a household of four children, where I hold sole responsibility for the funding of my education, every scholarship holds great significance to me. Each year I have used scholarships or taken out loans to pay for school and I have worked jobs every summer to ensure I will have the means to pay for anything school related. Being awarded this scholarship does not only offer financial support, but it represents the motivation and passion for success that drives me through my academic goals. This award serves as motivation for me to continue to strive for excellence in my education as well as in the years following graduation.

I am currently a senior at Indiana State University studying accounting with a minor in forensic accounting. During my freshman and sophomore year summers, I interned for Marvin Johnson and Associates. Throughout these experiences, I gained exposure to various aspects of the transportation industry.

While Marvin Johnson is primarily recognized for their expertise in trucking insurance, the company has numerous departments that are dedicated to assisting clients in improving their trucking operations. Whether in the office or on the road for a meeting, I consistently found myself acquiring new and valuable information about the complex transportation industry. This past summer, I interned for DMC Insurance, another trucking insurance company out of Fishers, Indiana. During those months I worked closely with the internal auditors in the Accounting Department. This experience enhanced my knowledge of the

financials that are imperative to the trucking insurance industry. As the summer concluded, I had the privilege of accepting a full-time position as an internal auditor following my graduation from Indiana State in May of 2025. During my first intern experience at Marvin Johnson, I was told that once you’re in trucking insurance, you will never want to leave, and I truly do believe that. I feel that it is no coincidence that I ended up at another trucking insurance company after all.
